Official opening of the Center for Social Concern.

The
ceremony for the blessing of the CFSC took place on the 2nd May 2003. More that
90 people came for the occasion including Sisters, Missionaries and some representatives
from NGOs.
On behalf of bishop Felix Mkhori, Mgr. Patrick Thawale blessed the newly built Center by sprinkling it with the holy water of Easter; "Loving Father, in the name of Jesus your Son, bless all who work here and deepen their spirit of dedication. May they help the community by discerning the signs of these times. May they work to promote justice and peace."
After the blessing, the Vicar General of the diocese of Lilongwe planted an Mbawa tree native to Malawi. Justice cannot bring peace if it is not open to the well being offuture generations who need a sound environment.
The Center for Social Concern has found a home. There are so many issues that
cause concern. Hopefully, the CFSC will provide a place where discernment and
reflexion are of high priority. This reminds us of some of the words of the
Second Vatican Council: "the joys and the hopes, the grief and the anxieties
of the women and men of this age, especially those who are poor or in any way
afflicted, these too are the joys and the hopes, the grief and the anxieties
of the followers of Christ."

"God Father, you have shown
us your motherly care for us
in the Passover of Jesus. You have shown us that you are a God of Life. Today, we ask you that this Center may always work to promote joy, hope and life." |
