JPIC tout comme Rencontre ont toujours été au cœur de notre mission. Les Missionnaires d'Afrique accompagnent, servent et défendent les droits des plus vulnérables depuis les débuts de la Société. On employait peut-être un vocable différent de celui d'aujourd'hui, mais c'était toujours la même réalité. Il faut continuer dans cette ligne.

En assemblée plénière, les capitulants ont vu l'importance d'avoir un secrétaire pour suivre et coordonner ces deux points. Ce secrétaire pourrait bien être un des membres du Conseil général.

Dans le domaine de JPIC, on propose de trouver un objectif commun à toute la Société ou encore à une Province ou un secteur. Cet objectif commun pourrait être la défense des migrants, ou encore la souveraineté alimentaire et la défense du monde paysan, etc. Il nous faut collaborer avec l'Église locale en intégrant les recommandations du synode pour l'Afrique dans nos engagements pour JPIC. Les paroisses restent le meilleur endroit pour pratiquer JPIC. Il faudrait mettre plus d'emphase sur la défense de l'intégrité de la création. Il faudrait que JPIC et la Rencontre fassent davantage partie du contenu de la formation initiale.

Les capitulants ont un après-midi libre pour donner la chance au comité de rédaction de formuler tout ce qui a été dit durant la semaine sur JPIC et la Rencontre. Plusieurs en profiteront pour visiter Rome pour la première fois dans leur vie.

CHAPTER 2010: Thursday 20th May

JPIC, just as Encounter, has always been at the heart of our mission. The Missionaries of Africa have accompanied, served and defended the rights of the most vulnerable since the beginnings of the Society. Perhaps the wording was different from today, but it was always the same reality. We must continue in this line. Today concludes discussion on these two topics.

In Plenary Assembly, the Capitulants saw the importance of having a secretary to follow up and coordinate these two issues. This secretary could very well be one of the members of the General Council.

In the area of JPIC, it was proposed to find an agreed objective for the whole Society, or again for a Province or a Sector. This agreed objective could be the protection of migrants, or again food sovereignty or the protection of the farming world, and so on. We need to work together with the local Church by integrating the recommendations of the Synod for Africa into our JPIC commitments. Parishes remain the best location to exercise JPIC. We would need to add more emphasis on the protection of the Integrity of Creation. JPIC and Encounter must play a greater role in the content of Initial Formation.

The Capitulants have a free afternoon to give the Drafting Committing the opportunity to formulate all that has been said during the week concerning JPIC and Encounter. Several among them will take advantage of it to visit Rome for the first time ever.
