Vendredi 21 mai Chapitre

Ce matin du vendredi 21 mai, les capitulants ont été invités à une demi-journée de méditation sur le thème de " Être prophète dans la mission ". Ils ont ensuite pu partager leur réflexion au cours de la messe en équipe en fin de matinée.

Le plus important pour nous aujourd'hui, ce n'est pas de survivre, mais d'être des prophètes (dans les questions de Justice et Paix). Notre avenir se doit de mettre en avant notre vocation de prophètes. Que notre engagement religieux fasse la différence, un engagement au service des faibles et des pauvres de ce monde. Si nous voulons prendre la prophétie au sérieux, nous devons, comme Jésus, d'un seul cœur et résolument, chercher le Royaume et ses valeurs. Nous ne pouvons pas simplement aller avec le courant, nous ne pouvons pas simplement continuer avec les vieilles habitudes, sinon nous pourrions finir par ne plus servir à rien.

Pour bien comprendre la vie missionnaire, il faut la voir comme la mission confiée à Jésus par le Père. C'est ce que les capitulants ont fait dans l'après-midi. Ils se sont réunis en équipe puis en plénière pour répondre aux deux questions suivantes qui les ont introduits dans le troisième point de l'agenda 1 sur notre mission :

1. D'après votre expérience personnelle, quels sont les points forts de notre spiritualité missionnaire ?
2. Quels sont les passages bibliques ou les intuitions du cardinal Lavigerie qui nous situent spirituellement dans la ligne de la prophétie ?

CHAPTER 2010: Friday 21st May

This morning the Capitulants were invited to a half-day of meditation on the topic of 'Prophecy and Mission'. They were then able to share their reflections in their group Masses at the end of the morning.

The most important thing for us today is not survival but prophecy. Our future has to do with the prophetic dimension of our calling. It has to do with religious life making a difference - a commitment which means being there for the weak and the poor of this world. If we are to be serious at all about prophecy, like Jesus, we must be single-minded and resolutely seek the Kingdom and its values. We cannot just drift with the flow, we cannot just go along with the way things have always been, or otherwise we may be reduced to mere irrelevance. To understand missionary life properly, it has to be seen as the mission entrusted to Jesus by the Father.

This is what the Capitulants did in the afternoon. They gathered in teams, then in Plenary Assembly to reply to the two following questions, which introduced them to the third point on Agenda 1 for our mission:

1. According to our personal experience, what are the strong points of our missionary spirituality?
2. What are the biblical passages or intuitions from Cardinal Lavigerie that place us spiritually in the line of prophecy?
