Le Père Emmanuel Ngona Ngotsi, Congolais, 50 ans, a été élu Assistant général de la Société des Missionnaires d'Afrique le 4 juin. Le Père Emmanuel est né à Bambumines, au Congo, le 1er janvier 1960. Entré dans la Société des Missionnaires d'Afrique, il a fait son Année spirituelle à Fribourg, Suisse, en 1984-1985. Puis il fut envoyé à Toulouse, France, pour étudier la théologie. Il a fait son Serment missionnaire dans la Société à Toulouse le 17 décembre 1989, et a été ordonné prêtre à Fataki, Zaïre, le 22 août 1990. Sa première nomination en Afrique a été pour la paroisse de Birni N'Konni, diocèse de Niamey en ce temps, au Niger.

Suivirent des études en science sociale et économique à Paris en 1996. En 1999, Emmanuel retourne au Niger dans la paroisse de Zinder, diocèse de Niamey, où il deviendra curé quelques mois plus tard. Il sera élu délégué de la Province du Burkina Faso au Chapitre de 2004. Il est nommé Assistant provincial au Burkina Faso en 2005. Il est élu Conseiller du secteur 4 de la nouvelle Province PAO (Province de l'Afrique de l'Ouest) en 2008 et, la même année, prend la charge de Recteur à la Maison Lavigerie à Ouagadougou. Le 8 mai 2009, il est nommé Provincial de la PAC (Province de l'Afrique Centrale -Congo Rwanda Burundi) et c'est à ce titre qu'il est venu au Chapitre 2010, comme membre de droit.

CHAPTER 2010 Friday 4th June

Father Emmanuel Ngona Ngotsi, Congolese, 50, was elected Assistant General of the Society of Missionaries of Africa on the 4th June 2010. Father Emmanuel was born at Bambumines, Congo, on the 1st January 1960. Entering the Society of Missionaries of Africa, he did his Spiritual Year at Fribourg, Switzerland in 1984-1985. He was then sent to Toulouse, France, to study theology there. He took his Missionary Oath in the Society at Toulouse on the 17th December 1989 and was ordained to the priesthood at Fataki, Zaïre, on the 22nd August 1990. His first appointment in Africa was to the parish of Birni N'Konni, Niamey Diocese, in Niger.

Studies in social and economic sciences followed at Paris in 1996. In 1999, Emmanuel returned to Niger to the parish of Zinder Niamey Diocese, where he became parish priest a few months later. He was elected delegate for the Province of Burkina Faso to the 2004 Chapter. He was appointed Assistant Provincial of Burkina Faso in 2005. He was elected Sector 4 Councillor of the new PAO Province (Province de l'Afrique de l'Ouest) in 2008 and in the same year, took charge as Rector of the Maison Lavigerie, Ouagadougou.

On the 8th May 2009, he was appointed Provincial of the PAC (Province de l'Afrique Centrale -Congo Rwanda Burundi) and it is in this capacity that he came to the 2010 Chapitre, as ex-officio member.
