The International Meeting of Superiors General of Missionary Societies of Apostolic Life, which depends on the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, (MISAL Meeting 2006) took place from the 22-27 April at Medellin (Colombia). As a frame of reference, the meeting was a celebration of the 38 years of the Medellin Latin-American Bishops' Conference , and the start of the 40 years celebrations of this important event in the Church of Latin America
For this reason the 28 participants, among the Superiors General and the members of the General Council, dealt with two central themes: "Evangelisation of indigenous cultures" and "Option for the Poor."

Fr. Nicanor Sarmiento, an indigenous Peruvian priest who is presently exercising his priestly ministry among ethnic minorities in the Province of Québec, (Canada), spoke about indigenous cultures, covering an area through different events, conferences Latin American Church Congresses where the inalienable human dignity of our indigenous brothers was progressively recognised and affirmed.
from El Peniarol. In fact it is a huge dam.The importance of creation from the CELAM Missions Department was also highlighted. Since its inception in 1967, this organisation has collaborated to a process of creating awareness of the indigenous world on the American continent.
Participants at the meeting also had the opportunity to visit the Embera indigenous community of Cristiania, a commune in the Andes, southwest of Antiochia county with the intention of coming closer to the reality of indigenous peoples.

Fr. Federico Carrasquilla spoke of the option for the poor. He brought the testimony of his own life experience lived with and among the poor. This experience led him to discover that his own basic interest 'could not be how to be like the poor but how to be like Jesus', who was poor with the poor of his time.' As a result, 'highlight the person of Jesus Christ and rediscover the dignity of the poor ' are key elements for a new perspective in the option for the poor.'
The main celebrant at the closing Eucharist was Archbishop Beniamino Stella, Apostolic Nuncio in Colombia, who in his homily affirmed that 'Evangelisation is confronting great challenges at the moment, provoked by radical political and social changes that the world has experienced over the last few years.' However, this reality constitutes, ' the field of our mission today-'
' The spread of the Gospel', continued the Nuncio, ' must not be affected by partiality or be reduced to a simple activity of human promotion or to some fixed programmes.' Rather, each person need to reach, 'the inexhaustible riches of the mystery of Christ, Saviour of humankind. (RG)

Medellin (Agence Fides) -La Rencontre Internationale des Supérieurs Généraux de la Société de Vie Apostolique dépendants de la Congrégation pour l’Evangélisation des Peuples (Rencontre MISAL 2006) a eu lieu du 22 au 27 avril à Medellin (Colombie). Selon ce que communique le P. Omer Giraldo, membre du Comité organisateur de la réunion, les sociétés missionnaires suivantes y ont participé :

La rencontre a eu comme cadre de référence la célébration des 38 ans de la Conférence épiscopale latino-américaine de Medellin, et le début des célébrations des 40 ans de cet important événement de l’Eglise latino-américaine.
Pour cette raison les 28 participants, parmi les Supérieurs généraux et les membres du Conseil général, ont abordé deux sujets centraux : « L’Evangélisation des cultures indigènes » et « L’option pour les pauvres ».

du El Peniarol En fait c'est un grand barrage.L’importance de la création du Département des Missions du CELAM a aussi été mise en valeur. Cet organisme a collaboré depuis son commencement, en 1967, au processus pour la création d’une conscience du monde indigène dans le continent américain.
Les participants à la rencontre ont aussi eu l’occasion de se rendre dans la communauté indigène Embera de la localité de Cristiania, commune des Andes, au Sud-Ouest du département d’Antiochia, avec l’objectif de se rapprocher de la réalité indigène.

L’Eucharistie de clôture a été présidée par le Nonce Apostolique en Colombie, Mgr Beniamino Stella, qui dans son homélie a affirmé que « l’Evangélisation affronte actuellement de grand défis, provoqués par les changements sociaux et politiques radicaux que le monde a expérimenté ces dernières années », mais cette réalité constitue « le domaine de notre mission aujourd’hui ».
« La diffusion de l’Evangile - a continué le Nonce - ne doit pas être affectée de partialité ni être réduite à une simple activité de promotion humaine ou à quelques programmes déterminés », mais chaque personne doit arriver « à connaître l’inépuisable richesse du mystère du Christ, Sauveur de l’homme ».
